Author Guidelines

As part of the submission process you will need to confirm that this is your original work, that you have the rights in the work, that this is for first publication in this Journal, that it is not being considered for/has not already been published elsewhere, and that you have obtained and can supply all necessary permissions for the reproduction of any copyright works not owned by you.

Your article must be within the scope of the journal and be of sufficient quality. If not, it will not be reviewed. Please read the About the journal section to understand its Aims and Scope to see if your article is appropriate.

The manuscript must be your original work, you must have the rights to the work, and you must have obtained and be able to supply all necessary permissions for the reproduction of any copyright works not owned by you, including figures, illustrations, tables, lengthy quotations, or other material previously published elsewhere.

Article types

Manuscripts submitted for publication consideration should be typed on a standard size paper and should be double-spaced throughout. These manuscripts should include a title page that includes the title of the article and appropriate contact information for the author.

The second page should repeat the title of the article and include a brief (150-250 word) abstract. We recognize and understand that sometimes length of the article does not reflect value or content. We have guidelines on minimum and maximum length as below.

Manuscript Formatting Guidelines

General Requirements

  • Language: English
  • File Format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)
  • Length:
    • Research articles: 5,000–8,000 words
    • Conceptual papers: 4,000–7,000 words
    • Case analyses: 3,000–6,000 words
    • Policy briefs: 2,000–3,000 words
    • Reflective essays: 2,000–3,000 words
    • Book reviews: 800–1,500 words
  • Page Setup:
    • Times New Roman, 12 pt
    • Double spacing
    • 1-inch (2.54 cm) margins
    • Page numbers included

Manuscript Structure

A standard empirical or theoretical manuscript should include:

  1. Title Page (submitted separately)
    • Manuscript title
    • Author(s) names
    • Institutional affiliations
    • ORCID (optional but encouraged)
    • Corresponding author email
    • Funding acknowledgements
    • Conflict-of-interest statement
  2. Main Document (anonymous)
    • Title (without author details)
    • Abstract (150–250 words)
    • 4–6 keywords
    • Introduction
    • Literature Review / Theoretical Background
    • Methodology
    • Findings / Results
    • Discussion
    • Practical and Theoretical Implications
    • Limitations and Future Research
    • Conclusion
  3. References
  4. Tables, Figures, and Appendices
    • Clearly labelled (e.g., Table 1, Figure 2, Appendix A)
    • Provide high-resolution figures (300 dpi minimum)
    • Place at the end of the manuscript, after references

Ethical Standards

PLOSJ adheres to international publication ethics.

Authors must ensure:

  • Ethical approval for studies involving human participants
  • Confidentiality and informed consent
  • Transparent reporting of methods and results
  • Disclosure of conflicts of interest
  • Accurate representation of data and findings

Plagiarism, data manipulation, duplicate publication, or unethical research practices will result in rejection or retraction

The manuscript is my/our original work and hold the rights to the work. The manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere and has not been previously published.
All necessary permissions have been obtained for any copyrighted material (figures, tables, illustrations, lengthy quotations, etc.). Permission documentation can be supplied upon request.

 

2. Scope and Quality Check

The manuscript meets scholarly standards and academic quality expectations.

 

3. Article Type and Word Count

The manuscript Word count falls within the required range.

Tick appropriately:

  • Research Article (5,000–8,000 words)
  • Conceptual Paper (4,000–7,000 words)
  • Case Analysis (3,000–6,000 words)
  • Policy Brief (2,000–3,000 words)
  • Reflective Essay (2,000–3,000 words)
  • Book Review (800–1,500 words)

 

4. Formatting Requirements

Language: English, File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx), Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt, double-spaced throughout, and all references follow APA 7th Edition style.

 

5. Ethical Standards Compliance

Ethical approval obtained (for studies involving human participants). Data is accurately represented.

Final Confirmation

I confirm that this submission meets all journal requirements and is ready for peer review.
